2) TOOTH BRUSHING
Proper tooth brushing should be several minutes every time, putting into consideration that there are some basic techniques to follow in proper tooth-brushing:
1. Focus your bristled toothbrush at the gum line. This is where plaque hides.
2. Begin by placing the bristles of your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle on the outside of your teeth (cheek side) where the gums and teeth meet.
3. Move the brush in a circular motion (upward for the lower teeth and downward for the upper teeth).
4. Use light pressure so the bristles glide gently between the teeth.
5. The same method is used on the inside (tongue side) surfaces of the back teeth.
6. To brush the inside of the front teeth, hold the brush vertically (with its bristles at 45-degree angle on the inside of your teeth) using an out-ward motion.
7. Then place the brush against the biting surfaces of all teeth using back-and-forth gentle motion.
3) TOOTH FLOSSING
Tooth flossing aid in removal of food debris that remain in-between teeth and can not be reached with the tooth brush.
1. Wind 20 Centimeter of dental floss around your middle fingers of each hand.
2. Catch the floss between your thumbs and index fingers leaving four to five Centimeter length in between.
3. Use your thumbs to direct the floss between your upper teeth and the index fingers for the lower teeth.
4. Allow the floss to enter between your teeth using a gentle short back and forth motion without forcing it to the gums.
5. Slide the floss against the tooth side up & down (from the contact area to below the gum line.
4) TONGUE BRUSHING
1. Brush your tongue whenever you brush your teeth.
2. Choose a medium or soft brush, stroke from near the throat (as far as you can get in) to an outwards motion (do not press too hard to avoid tongue damage).
3. For even better results, try to moisten the brush with Chlorhexidine gel or mouth wash.
