1) DEFINITION

It is a yellow notch (depression) appears on the front of the teeth near the gum line 

 

2) CAUSES

• Bruxism (teeth grinding) When you grind on a tooth, the tooth flexes, bends from its weakest point which is located at the gum line and its tissues dissolve resulting in a yellow notch.

• Brushing too hard in wrong motion using brushes with hard bristles.

 

3) DISADVANTAGES

Tooth sensitivity due to exposure of the sensitive dentine Weakness of the affected teeth with possible subsequent fracture.

 

4) TREATMENT

Tooth grinding (Bruxism) should be treated at first. White filling is then used to restore the lost tooth tissues (white fillings will pop out in a very short time if tooth grinding is not treated).
