Medical services are provided and billed by Medical Clinic. Our providers participate in most all of the major health insurance plans in the region. Following are the health plans which we currently accept.

If your plan is not listed, we will be unable to file a claim on your behalf. However, we can provide you with a form that you can submit to your insurance company to instruct them to send reimbursements directly to you.

Please be aware that with any health plans, there may be deductibles and copayments for which you could be responsible.

Q:        What was the Chronic Disease Dental Scheme and when did it close?

To be eligible for the CDDS, patients must have had a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangements in place, prior to 8 September 2012, to manage their condition and must have been referred to a dentist by their GP.

The CDDS closed on 1 December 2012.  No Medicare benefits are payable for any dental services provided under the CDDS from this date.  The cost of any subsequent dental services must be met by the patient.

Q:        Can I still make a claim for an eligible service that was provided before the closure?

Eligible claims will continue to be paid as long as the dental service was provided before 1 December 2012 and all the requirements of the service were met.  This includes claims made directly by a dental practitioner (bulk billed claims) and those claimed directly by patients.

Q:        Can I apply for an extension to access Medicare benefits for dental services provided under the CDDS?

No. There is no provision in the legislation governing the CDDS that allows the Department of Health and Ageing or the Minister for Health to make exceptions to the rules for the payment of benefits.

Q:        What do I do now if I’m still receiving treatment?

Medicare benefits cannot be paid for any dental services provided from

1 December 2012. If you wish to continue treatment with your current dentist, you will need to meet the costs yourself. Alternatively, you may wish to contact your relevant State or Territory dental service to see if you are eligible for public dental care.
